Changing your career is obviously a major step to take and many things need to be considered before you take that step.
Many people start out to become Driving Instructors without the full facts. A certain amount of this blame must go down to the national ADI Instructor training companies who use very effective sales persons to tell you what you want to hear and gloss over the reality.
Make sure you know what you are getting, it’s often the case that you will wait a month between training sessions, this despite promises of qualifying within 12 weeks. Most driving instructor training providers offer 40 hours for part three (which is no where enough pass : rate 25%)but when you car share and deduct breaks (in your time) in reality you will get nowhere near this amount of training. We do not car share, all of our driving instructor training is done on a one to one basis.
Is there a refund policy?
Before you even consider parting with over £4,000 to the sleek talking sales person, you really need to know if you can have a refund if things do not work out. Your personal circumstances may change or you may feel that this career change is just not for you. ‘Red instructor training' in particular have been investigated for their policy of no refunds .t.v.investegation. Leaving clients thousands of pounds in debt and nothing to show for it.

You have to ask the question - WHY!!!
NO training company can guarantee qualification, I will repeat this, NO training company can guarantee qualification. You really need to check out the training company’s track record, the national qualification rate is only 25%. They will all tell you they have high pass rates, but this is impossible when 75% of candidates never go on to become ADI's.

Local or national?
To the national providers you will often be a faceless individual who has contracted for a set number of hours Instructor training and when those hours are used their obligation is complete.
You have to decide whether you wish to be a number on a national database or do you wish to become part of a very successful local team.
To us you are a very real person that lives on our doorstep, we need you to succeed ,either to work with us at the driving school as part of our expansion plans or spread the word for a job well done.
We do not have the huge advertising budgets and television exposure, so we rely on our excellent local reputation. We have nothing to gain if you do not succeed.
Is there enough work to go around?
At the time of writing the largest provider of Instructor Training in the Country is Red. They will promise all trainees a job when qualified but in reality they have just a handful of driving tuition vehicles in the local area and we have twenty four.
B S M the countries largest driving school have lost 1/3 of their instructors in the last 12 months ,this is down to a combination of very high franchise fees, the decision to use the Fiat 500 and lack of local work for their instructors.
We are a local company, this gives us a huge advantage over our national competitors.Most people like to deal with companies that are local to them, as it makes them feel more secure than dealing with an office possibly hundreds of miles away.
During the last 4 years the driving school has gone from strength to strength and we now currently teach in excess of 400 pupils per week.
This is down to many reasons,we have an outstanding local reputation, we have an excellent support package to keep our driving instructors at the fore front of development and we provide excellent value for money.
We have plans to expand to the surrounding area's as well as taking more of the local market share and to do this we will need a constant supply of trainee's coming through our training system.
